Data Currency
The data in our database is 'as of' certain dates.  Most cemetery data was collected and compiled in the late 1970's and early 1980's depending on the cemetery.  This means that anyone that died after the date the cemetery data was collected will not be in our database.

Newspaper information was collected from selected newspapers published in Lancaster County for select date ranges. The Lincoln Evening New dates are 1903, 1904, and 1905.  For the Hickman Enterprise the date range is 1901, 1902, 1903.  For the Lincoln Nebraska State Journal the dates are May 1873 through 1900.

Probate information is from 1884 through 1897.

Marriage information is from ?????????

Intent to Naturalize information is from 1867 through 1944.

Rural Resident information comes from 2 Plat Books.  One book was published in 1903 and the other was published in 1921.

Member Research (a.k.a. the "Surname Index") is a compilation of research done my LLCGS members or others that have submitted their data to be included in the listing.

Pioneer Families information came from a listing published by the Nebraska State Historical Society.  Lancaster County names was gleaned from the NSHS listing and included in this database.

Data Accuracy
Every reasonable effort was made to insure accuracy during the process of converting the paper documents to electronic form for inclusion in this database. With that being said, the accuracy of the data cannot be considered without error, either from the conversion from paper or the accuracy of the paper documents. If, by chance, you find an error between the paper (scanned electronic image) and the data, please notify me or the LLCGS.

Date Ambiguity
For cemeteries, some dates did not indicate whether they were birth or death dates. It was assumed to be a death date.

Recorder Notes
For cemeteries,t appears that sometimes notes were added by the recorders that were not on the headstone. These notes may appear in parenthesis '()'.

Electronic Recorder Notes
In some situations the electronic recorder has added notes for clarification purposes in braces '{ }'.

Document Images
The document pages were scanned and are included in this web site for two reasons. First, not often but occasionally there are drawings or sketches that could not be included in the database with the names and dates. Secondly, some of the cemeteries have notes that could not be added to the database easily.

A word about the document images. To have high quality images requires larger file sizes to store those images. That in turn means slower transmission and load times to your Internet browser. So the lower image quality was a trade off for smaller size and quicker load times.
